On Friday, October 19, children with Hunter Syndrome and their families had the time of their lives at a puppy playdate hosted by Petland Miami.
The event, which took place at K-9 Cove in Miami Lakes, FL, proved to be exciting as these children took their pups to play and have fun with their friends.
Among the invited were children and families who received a free puppy from Petland Pembroke Pines back in June, including 4 year old Sebastian Estevez, who had initially prompted the kind gesture from store owner Luis Marquez.
Estevez and other children at the puppy playdate suffer from a debilitating disease called Hunter Syndrome, which will eventually cause them to lose their abilities to walk, talk, and perform regular activities for children their age.
Non-profit organization Project Alive has worked to provide resources and information to families, raise awareness about the disease, and research for a cure. Petland recently donated $20,000 to continue supporting Project Alive’s mission and help Sebastian and other children suffering from Hunter Syndrome.
