On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, Petland gave a woman with sickle cell anemia the gift of a loving furry companion!

During the event, which took place in Petland Pembroke Pines, Nicolle Mesa, a cancer patient suffering from sickle cell anemia, was given a Malti-Shi puppy, a crossbreed between a Maltese and Shih Tzu.

Because the puppy is hypoallergenic and affectionate, Mesa’s new furry friendship will be a long lasting one as it won’t affect her during her treatments.

Petland’s donation is part of an effort to enrich the lives of those suffering from debilitating diseases in South Florida. We at Petland Miami are overjoyed at seeing Nicolle’s happiness over receiving her new puppy. We love the way our puppies help lift the spirits of those in need and always give back to our community in every way that we can.
